Collector Cards drop Pearls or Cards. For example, the Love Bug drops Pearls and the Collector Cards in the events reward Character Cards.
The amount of cards you need to upgrade the Vehicle is indicated by the progress bar (A). The card also illustrates how many pearls the vehicle generates (1) as well as the Time Skips you can earn (2). At the bottom of the card, indicated by the yellow box, you find how many replicate cards you need to collect in addition to the pearls you must garner in order to upgrade the Love Bug.
